The Minnesota Youth Pipe Band seeks to foster a lifelong passion for music though the Great Highland bagpipes and Highland drums (snare, tenor, and bass).
Based in the Macalester-Groveland neighborhood of Saint Paul, we are dedicated to quality instruction in a youth oriented environment while providing opportunities for youth to develop musically and personally. MNYPB aims to compete at Highland Games in the United States, Canada, and Scotland. All youth aged 8 - 18 are welcome!
The Minnesota Youth Pipe Band is pending approval as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
Beginning classes start with an introduction to the fundamentals of music and the basics of their selected instrument. Bagpiping students will start with a practice chanter before moving on to the bagpipes. Once core skills are developed, students begin to play together as a group in the Band.
This is a one time materials fee of $100 when a student joins, which includes a practice chanter for piping students or sticks and a practice pad for drumming students.
Class fees are $60/month, with a family discount rate of $30/month for each additional child. Fees are also discounted to $30/month if a student is taking at least 2 private lessons a month.
Do you have an interested youth who is under 8 years old? Contact us - interested youth who are under 8 will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
